CYP-LEX

CYP-LEX is an interactive web tool developed for Rastle Lab at Royal Holloway, University of London. It allows users to explore a large-scale lexical database built from over 1,200 books read by children and teens in the UK. The site lets researchers, educators, and the public query specific words or filter based on linguistic traits — providing insights into how young readers encounter and process language across age groups.

The Challenge
Translate a dense linguistic dataset into an intuitive, accessible platform usable by both academics and the general public.
Our Riot
We designed and developed the full platform from scratch — clean UI, robust query system, and downloadable results — making academic data easy to explore.
The Impact
Now used internationally by researchers and educators; hosted on Open Science Framework.
